We Bought A Zoo

We took the 6 year old to see We Bought a Zoo tonight. Originally, we were going to see The Adventures of Tin Tin. But, it turned out the one we had planned to see was 3-D (which didn't show that on the website), and I didn't have enough money for three 3-D tickets so we opted for the Zoo movie.
First, let me start by saying that despite the name of the movie and what you see in the commercials that implies a certain type of movie, this movie is definitely not for a 6 year old. He was bored and there were a bit more curse words than I was comfortable with him hearing. Even both kids in the movie (one of them supposedly 7) each said at least one foul word. No, this movie is definitely for an older crowd, even with all the zoo elements.
Now, that being said, it really was a good movie. Both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It dragged a little in parts, but for the most part it was engaging. It had me smiling at parts, and shedding some tears at others. And to think it's based on a true story.
I won't go into summaries, since those are easily found all over the net and in the book on which the movie is based. There was a lot of sadness, and a lot of feel good, and a lot of hope even in the midst of incredible odds. Yes, a good movie to enjoy with a friend or loved one - though not a friend or loved one that is 6 years old lol.
