My son took me on a 'date' (so sweet :) to see Beauty and the Beast.  It was so wonderful!  The backdrop and scenery/set were magnificent and stunning.  Some of the scenes, especially the ballroom dance scene, were simply beautiful.  I greatly enjoyed it and kudos to Disney for a well-made live action version of a beloved tale.  Emma Watson was a perfect cast for Belle, in my opinion.

So tomorrow is Thanksgiving in the US.  I'm lucky to have a gathering tomorrow as well as one on Friday.  But, I have to bring food to both.  For the one tomorrow, I'm taking 3 desserts.  Even though there are only 3, I have been cooking for four and a half hours tonight!  Oi!  I'm exhausted.  But, hopefully it will be delicious :)

Here's what I cooked... )
I want to wish everyone who celebrates a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Like super hot....melting the pavement hot.....and it's not even August yet!

To those who celebrate.  Hope you were all able to enjoy good food, good company, and good times.  I'm thankful for my family, for having a job, and for the general good health that I and most of my loved ones share.

I've been watching How to Get Away With Murder, and my question.....WTH is it about?  :(  I am so confused.  All the scene changes between past and present make my head spin.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first episode of Stalker and looking forward to more of that.  I also thought the first episode of Selfie was cute.  I'm not that impressed with NCIS New Orleans...it needs to pick up the pace and not be quite so cheesy.  Scorpion is kinda fun, in a 'park your brain at the door' kinda way.

Some of my favorites have returned and are, so far, really good - Nashville, The Middle, The Goldbergs, Once Upon a Time, NCIS Los Angeles, and Hawaii Five O

So far, the new fall season is pretty good.

I've been a big fan of Teen Wolf....until this latest season (s4).  I'm just not feeling it.  I don't feel any connection with the new characters they introduced.  It's....disappointing :(

I hope it's been a wonderful day for everyone :)  My 9 year old surprised me with breakfast in bed!  He did it all by himself, too.  I heard him talking in the kitchen, saying things like "what else what else...cereal, perfect!" and things like that.  I thought he was talking with his dad at first, but never heard the deeper sound of the hubby, so I got up to look.  He turned around and saw me, and said "Moooom!  Go back to bed!  I'm fixing you breakfast!"  lol  So I obliged.  Then he yelled from the other room "Where's the trays".  It was just so special.  He made me toast, bacon he cooked in the microwave, a bowl of cereal and a huge glass of sweet iced tea.  My husband was also shocked since he had planned to help.  It was the first time our kid fixed a meal on his own. :)

He's just growing up so fast *sniffles*

Then we went outside to garden a bit.  He found an earthworm and started gushing about it, what species it was, what is related to, other creatures we might find, etc. etc. etc.  My husband rolled his eyes at the exaggerated never-ending fact spewing and finally told our boy "yeh yeh, we got it, we got it".  At that point, my boy looked at him, sniffed a little and said "Dad, you just don't appreciate my genius".  HAHAHA  Smartass little cuss, too :)

I'm so in love with the Teen Wolf series.  But I have a hard time finding Ethan/Danny fics.  If I could get my writing muse to cooperate, I'd write some.  I've got, like, two or three plots floating in my head, but I just can't get them to come out on paper lol.  Oh well, guess I'll just keep watching them in my dreams ;)  So far, in the new season, they've had two eps with no sign of Danny *sobs*  Ethan was in ep two (only briefly though, with his brother).  Hopefully the two will appear together before too long.

This is a week late, due to illnesses all around - flu season is here! - but I just wanted to say Happy New Year everyone!

The past year was a hard one for a lot of people.  For me personally, it was bittersweet.  For the bitter - I lost my godfather, my dad, a close friend of the family, the team of people I've worked with for the past 15 years, and then I lost my job.  The sweet - I gained a new niece and got a new job.  It's been an emotional rollercoaster.

So long 2013, you sucked!  May 2014 be better for everyone!.

Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season!

I've been watching the new season of Legend of Korra (Avatar).  I have to say that Korra, the Avatar, is one big SPOILED BRAT!  I don't find her endearing at all.  She's rude to those trying to help her on a regular basis, which is made worse by the fact that she is always making the wrong choices and believing the wrong people while dissing those that have proven time and again that they love her and support her.  Bleh

So, I'm a fan of the TV show Revenge.  I've been excitedly anticipating the premier of the new season.  But, as I sit here watching it, I'm a little....meh about it.  It seems rather stilted with a few sardonic arched brow moments.  Is it just me, or do they seem to be trying to hard.

My kid turned 8 the other day.  Guess I can't really have 'toddler adventures' posts anymore since he is way past toddler phase lol.  I can't believe how fast time flies!  He was just born a minute ago.  He found my old School House Rock dvds the other day and wanted to watch them with mommy.  He really loved 3's a Magic Number and Interjections! lol.  Funny cause those were two of my favs too.  That and the Counting by 5s and conjunction junction and the one with the preamble (which actually helped me pass a Civics test in school way back in the day) and The Great American Melting Pot....well too many to count.

Anyhoo, here's some nostalgia for those of you who remember and loved School House Rock.

We went to see Rise of the Guardians last night.  That was an AMAZING film.  We absolutely loved it.  It says something about the enjoyment factor when a good chunk of the audience in the theater applauds a flim at the end, and that is just what happened in the theater we attended.  If you haven't had a chance to go see it yet, I highly recommend it (and stay through the credits to see the extra scene).  Even my crotchety spouse enjoyed the film.  I hope it does well, and I hope it wins the Oscar in the animated series (even though I also enjoyed Hotel Transylvania and ParaNorman).  I will definitely be buying this one when it comes out on DVD.

Well the elections are over, and it turned out about as I expected.  Over a billion spent on campaigning and there's no change in the political landscape in Wash.  If anything, there'll probably be even more gridlock...Oi!  Same song, next verse.  Hopefully the economy will eventually recover - it tends to be cyclically up or down.  One thing that could be devastating, though, would be if the dollar is devalued and/or loses its place as the world reserve currency.

But, there were other things being voted on around the country that were as important as the pres race.   It was good to see some of those pass!!  Gay marriage and marijauna should be legalized in all the states :)

Surfing around different states' news sites and checking voting results on various things, I enjoy reading comments that are posted.  The comment that wins funniest to me, and just about sums up some of the sillier laws/amendments being voted on around the country and/or cities/counties was as follows:

"Will I need a permit to wipe my ass?"

LOL  A statement made of win :P

I love this series so much.  It's interesting and fantastical.  But, there are a couple of plot points that are bothering me.  For anyone who has watched season one and currently watching season two, how did the Mad Hatter return from Wonderland where the Queen was about to do the 'off with his head' thing?  If I recall from season one, Regina had tricked him into going there with her to get her father - but if two go into the hat, only two can come out - and the two that came out were Regina and her father which left the Mad Hatter trapped.  But suddenly in season two, he's back in town, rescued from an overturn car by Prince Charming.  I'm confused.....

The other thing that bothers me is Henry's lack of any real feelings towards Regina, who raised him from a baby.  Now, granted, she is the wicked queen and he knows this.  But, it's obvious that he means the world to her.  Yet, he can't even give her a hug when she swears she is going to try to change and get Snow White (his real grandma) and his real mom back from the Enchanted Forest?.

Toonami!!

I'm so glad Toonami has returned to the Cartoon Network/Adultswim.  In addition to Bleach, there are two new animes running - Deadman Wonderland and Casshern Sins

At first, I was looking forward to seeing Casshern Sins because I'd heard some good things about it.  I wasn't as interested in Deadman Wonderland, but was going to give it a chance.

Now, approximately 4 episodes in, I'm thoroughly enjoying Deadman Wonderland - it's like a mystery, even with the violence.  But, Casshern Sins....not so much.  I hope it gets better as the series progresses;but right now it just has me confused and slightly bored.
